Seguir Vivendo

Seguir Vivendo is a stunning tribute to Brazilian music and the timeless songs of American singer-songwriter Michael Franks, reimagined in Portuguese. Spearheaded by Roeland Jacobs and Rob van Weelde, this project brings together a blend of smooth jazz and bossa nova, featuring the soulful vocals of Brazilian-Dutch singer Lilian Vieira (Zuco 103).

The album presents twelve of Franks’ original songs, carefully selected for their Brazilian essence and translated into Portuguese by Celso Viafora, a close friend of Ivan Lins. With arrangements crafted by Roeland Jacobs for voice and strings, the album features beautiful performances by the string section of the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, conducted by Brazilian maestro Alexandra Arrieche.

The heart of Seguir Vivendo lies in its lush, romantic soundscapes, where Vieira’s authentic Brazilian roots shine through. Accompanied by the WedgeView Studios house band, Roberto de Lujo & Friends, the album flows effortlessly, blending smooth jazz with bossa nova rhythms to create a warm, atmospheric listening experience.

Following the success of Teus Nobel’s Saudade, Seguir Vivendo continues the tradition of paying homage to Brazilian music, this time through the lens of Michael Franks’ repertoire. The result is a vibrant, soulful album that transports listeners to the heart of Brazil with every note.
